StoryWalk in Delta
Take a walk. Read a story. Enjoy the outdoors.
The StoryWalk® Project is a coordinated effort with Rotary Clubs throughout Delta that brings reading and nature together through a deconstructed children's book. Weather-resistant display stands, each featuring a different page, are placed along a designated trail so families can read a story as they walk.
The stands also include fun physical-literacy prompts, such as hopping to the next signpost or finding items along the way. It is a simple way to build a love of reading, support child development and turn a walk in the park into an adventure.

- Grove Trail at Beach Grove Park
- Ladner Millennium Trail
- North Delta Community Park
The story is refreshed regularly, so there is always a reason to return for another walk.
A new story each month
The featured book changes monthly, giving residents a new reason to explore Delta's natural beauty. The protective display covers help keep the story available for families throughout the year—replacing screen time with green time.
Community partners
The City of Delta installed the Storywalks in 2021 in partnership with the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen, Rotary Club of Ladner, the Delta Child Youth Committee and the Delta Community Literacy Committee. The three sites use approximately 21 weather-resistant display stands.
StoryWalk was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont, in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
