Announcemnts
The first hybrid meeting at the Red Barn began at 7:15 AM  for the in-person crowd with Zoomers entering later.
Wayne Connorton led the group in the singing of O Canada. 
Yvonne Anderson delivered the invocation encouraging us to be generous and thoughtful during this time of stress as felt by those living in the more unfortunate areas of our province.
 
The protocol procedures were reviewed:
 . vaccinated people only
 . wearing of the mask when standing or moving
 . removal of the mask when seated at your table
 . making use of hand sanitizer

Foundation News  Tom Smith
Reminder that the District will provide matching funds to donations of $500 to the Foundation. This will then be applied to the receipt of a Paul Harris recognition. All interested should contact Tom.

Flying Flags now Furled              Rick Lewall
Members who installed and took down the flags were thanked. The flags that added much to the commemoration of Remembrance Day were well received by the community
 
Lights At Diefenbaker  Leslie
With eleven crates of lights to go up a second session will take place on Saturday.  This week will also feature the set up of the caricatures of the sled and reindeer. We will be joined in the work project at 9:00 AM by the District as well

Happy Dollars
Paul van Westendorp $10 happy to be meeting in person but another sad$10 for the devastation in the Fraser valley which has impacted his lab directly along with the loss of farm animals throughout the area
 
Blake Cowan a happy $5 for rescuing his daughter by making use of his former plane when she was stranded in Hope 
 
Tom Smith a cool $50 for celebrating his 50th  anniversary on a cruise that he claims was even better than the original wedding
 
David Anderson $10 for a series of happy events including the arrival of snow in Whistler, the renovation of his condo there and for his daughter phoning from Halifax without requesting  money
 
Past President Laureen  $4 for the sad passing of her brother and for the compassionate service provided by St John's Hospice
 
Rick Lewall $4 for the successful flag programme that was completed this week. They are now stored and ready for the next deployment in June
 
Joan Hansen $50 for the take down of the flags and for creating of greeting cards from wine labels that she was able to sell and give the proceeds to the Foundation
 
Ed Lee for a trip to San Francisco to pick up his son's belongings and happy to have him back..... and some sad dollars for having to attend 3 funerals this week
 
Liz Ellis $4 for attending a zoom presentation featuring Ram Nayyar from the district's Speakers Bureau on self improvement and personal growth

INTERNATIONAL GIVING
Chennai and Tekera
 
Chennai: Our Sister Club
We were pleased to have President Sumir Saproo of our sister club of Chennai India join us for the meeting. He was presented with our club's support of of $1200 for the pandemic support. This was augmented by an additional $1000 from the individual member donations. President  Sumir who was joining our breakfast meeting in the middle of the nightexpressed how lucky he felt to be in contact with a club such as ours. the past four weeks have been extremely difficult but thanks to the help and words of others. The financial support has gone to the needy who are most thankful for our generosity.
 
Tekera:
Liz Ellis our club's international chairperson introduced Daniel, the operations manager and Moreen, the field director who presented a video that demonstrated the self-sufficient status of the Tekera Resource Centre.

To David Anderson for not tuning in to start the invocation on time and providing us with an insight into his domestic life .
 
Benno ended the meeting with a limerick:
 
"Tom's grandkids gave us a smile
David's invocation began after a while
Greg gave us a quick SWOT analysis
Hope it doesn't cause speech paralysis
But the plan will take us over the next mile"
