Murray was able to interview the children in Spanish and translate their answers. In a delightful session we were able to learn about their day-to-day lives and their hopes for the future. Camilo sent the following letter afterwards: Dear godparents, I hope you are well. My name is Camilo Rodriguez Martinez. I am 12 years old and I want to thank you for supporting me in my studies.. I want to thank you because I received from Project Amigo a pantry with many much-needed items in my house and also for 690 pesos for the expenses I have from school. I have photos to show these supports. I have done well in school. I live in Cofradia de Suchitlan where it is cold. I am cheerful and happy and I like to dance, draw, paint and also admire Frida Kahlo. I love animal and plants . I have a lot of friends and get along with people. My two older sisters Anahi and Virdiana supervise me. They have two children each . My nephews are very naughty but we love them very much. Thank you very much for deciding to give me your support for my studies I'll see you soon, Camilo Tsawwassen2Evanston Past President Gail Since many of our usual activities are not possible during the lock-down period the social committee has brainstormed to come up with an event that combines health, exercise, group fun and socially-distanced participation. In those days we took it for granted. In the spring all of this changed abruptly and some of our members jumped in to pivot a major change to our meetings. John C and Keith D were crucial in getting things going by setting up and educating members in this new method called Zoom. Now we have a committee that has taken over: Sherrie who co-ordinates the meetings and sends out links Judy who sends invitations and links to visitors Linda who hosts the meetings and helps with screen share Sherrie, Judy, and Gail who serve as back up hosts Cindy who monitors the chats to assist the host Gail who sends out the Tuesday Teasers |
