Travel and Happy Dollars
President Gail reminded us that she, Mike McEwen and Murray Lott will be doing a presentation on their trip to Colima Mexico next week

Judy McLeod - Wheelers last week at Ian Bourhill and Margaret's was a lot of fun.  She also thanked guest Alicia Guichon for continuing to provide such good fruits and veggies to us at Backroads Market

Blake Cowan - Happy to have wife Lara home from the frozen east.  He attended a meeting of the 2020 conference committee and then one for the planning committee for Dave Hamilton's 2021 conference.  He had several copies of his Pure Pharmacy magazine for those who were interested.

Tom Yingling - Happy to have his son Jack and Mom Cathie here for breakfast.  Jack has a new business - Ivy League Painting.

Kevin Zhang -  has gone back to school to get his MBA and already is society MBA President.

Greg Muirhead - reminding us that Feb 29 is Delta Prayer Breakfast with speaker Dr. Mark Husbands

Laura Dixon - daughter is home for reading week.  Laura is hopeful that she will be pencilled in for a social visit

Bob Cooke - Sad $$$ as his Aeroplan account was compromised and he lost 250,000  points when the thieves booked 7 trips.  He only caught this when Aeroplan called to say that a flight had been cancelled.  Thieves had changed all his personal settings - except the phone #.  All beware of your points in any account.

Joan Hansen - Happy for Wheelers also at Ian Bourhill's.  Toured the Ishmali Centre in Burnaby with former member Zahir Dossa.  It was a fascinating educational day.  Challenged fellow Rotarian Wayne Connorton to also put in happy $$ as he was also there.

Garry Shearer - Extremely happy for 42 years of marital bliss with Colleen

Jim Julius  -  Had a call from his bank re a forged cheque that was very clever and very well done.  All is OK

President Gail -  reminder that Wheelers is at the Rose and Crown at 5:30 - 7:30 Friday.   She congratulated Linda Ding and Laureen McCleery for doing RLI last weekend.   Laureen McCleery is now at PETS.

First Nations Histroy in the Schools

Nathan Wilson
Diane Jubinville
Ted Johnson

Nathan Wilson welcomed us with a Traditional welcome song in his native Tsawwassen Language.

Diane had a demonstration of the long timeline of First Nations people here in our area.  She had a beaded timeline beginning 12,000 to 13,000 years ago.   First evidence of the Tsawwassen people here is 7000 years ago

Indigenous Education in Delta schools starts in Kindergarten and continues through the school years.  The kids are learning about each other and that all ideas have merit.

Nathan gave us a bit of his personal history.  He was adopted at 10 days old by the Wilson family in Ladner.  He was actually born in the Yukon.  His Youth was not fun - for him in school and for his family who were fishers.  He currently has been with the school district for 5 years sharing stories with all kids.  He is now a TFN member.  TFN is now an independent nation and is growing.  While other groups are still part of the Indian Act, TFN is no longer.

He thanked us by saying.....  HY'CHKA
