Announcemnts
The meeting began with a video of O Canada being played without sound. Gamely, members attempted to sing along by following the words on screen.
 
More successful was Gail McEwan's invocation that featured some of Maya Angelou's more inspirational quotes:
 
"I've learned that a decision made with an open heart is usually the right decision"
"When I have pains I don't have to be one"
"Every day you should reach out and touch someone"
"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel"

Rotary Citation Award   Assistant Governor Dean Hsieh
 
Six clubs in the district were granted a citation for 2020-21 and the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen club was one of these! Congratulations to Past President Laureen, last year's board and all members for the achievement.
 
International News  Peter Edwards
The UN's International Peace day will be celebrated on Sept 21: 3PM at the Peace Pole where a dedication will be made and the Peace Builder Award will be presented

All of the flags are now up and flying proudly. Thanks to the club members and the South Delta Rams football team who put them up.

We will be participating in the Thanksgiving Food Drive that is modeled on the one held at Christmas. This one will take place Sept 11-25 with the food donations  gathered at Tsawwassen Springs before being delivered to the South Delta Food Bank.  It is being organized by Travis Wolsey who we hope will address our club.

INTERNATIONAL GIVING
Chennai and Tekera
 
Chennai: Our Sister Club
We were pleased to have President Sumir Saproo of our sister club of Chennai India join us for the meeting. He was presented with our club's support of of $1200 for the pandemic support. This was augmented by an additional $1000 from the individual member donations. President  Sumir who was joining our breakfast meeting in the middle of the nightexpressed how lucky he felt to be in contact with a club such as ours. the past four weeks have been extremely difficult but thanks to the help and words of others. The financial support has gone to the needy who are most thankful for our generosity.
 
Tekera:
Liz Ellis our club's international chairperson introduced Daniel, the operations manager and Moreen, the field director who presented a video that demonstrated the self-sufficient status of the Tekera Resource Centre.

To David Anderson for not tuning in to start the invocation on time and providing us with an insight into his domestic life .
 
Benno ended the meeting with a limerick:
 
"Tom's grandkids gave us a smile
David's invocation began after a while
Greg gave us a quick SWOT analysis
Hope it doesn't cause speech paralysis
But the plan will take us over the next mile"
