A documentary of an African Adventure sponsored by Rotary

Deneka Michaud proudly held the World Premiere of her feature length film, Friends we haven't met yet. The fascinating 105 minute documentary details the 2008 adventure of five Canadian women who participated in a Rotary Group Study Exchange visit to Tanzania. It is a story of discovery that extends friendship and fellowship from East Africa to Canada's west coast and shows the universal power of Rotary.

In the fall of 2007, the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen and Point Roberts sponsored Delta Cable reporter Deneka Michaud to travel to Tanzania as part of a program called the Group Study Exchange. Rotary, Delta Cable, and Deneka seized the opportunity to create a feature length documentary that shows the adventure of discovery including many slices of Tanzanian life, beautiful and exotic flora and fauna and several local Rotary projects.

"What an incredible experience. I have grown because of it and will never forget all that I have learned," said Deneka.

Deneka did it all - from camera work to reporting, editing and producing. The World Premiere including food, African music and the film was Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Vancity Theater, 1181 Seymour Street, Vancouver, BC

Proceeds support Rotary projects benefiting Tanzanian children:

1.     Ocean Road Cancer Hospital : repairs and lab equipment .

2.     Primary School for Deaf and Blind Children: teacher training on computers to teach deaf and blind children literacy skills.

3.     The Tusome Literacy Project: Zanzibar literacy imitative.

Following the World Premiere the documentary will air on Delta Cable.
